Here is a thought. Why do we listen to sad music when we are sad? Validation? Security? Emotional regulation? Comfort?
Here is an interesting link…

I don’t think this is necessarily a source with a bunch of peer-reviewed scientific background, but it seemed interesting enough to read and make me say “huh!” 🤔
I was really thinking about this because in the last week, I have seen multiple posts about ladies sharing which songs remind them of their babies (alive and not) and there are a lot of really similar ones.
I also noticed, that the further I get from June 2020, the less I listen to my “baby playlist”. But also, I have noticed that I automatically hum some of those songs more when I am having a thoughtful day.
Here are some of mine, in no particular order. Some with reason, some just because…
I think this one is pretty straightforward. I can’t even do this one without crying anymore.
Another straightforward choice.
This is the “I am feeling positive and trying to pretend everything is ok” song. But I also just like it because I do.
Must I say more?
Spiderman is great.
And also, very laid-back song.
Oh gosh, this one is crazy. Listen to these lyrics. One of the doctors that came to check on us in the hospital warned us about this song because it made her super emotional with a pregnancy loss. But then I listened to it and whoa.
I think I just like to sing this one.
Oooh lots of stuff with this one. This song always reminds me of a sweet girl Korrine. She passed away when we were in high-school, at such a young age. But the song is also upbeat, which is perfect for her positive and bubbly attitude. Something about it, is just baby playlist magic. Even before Franklin, this one was just always there with emotions. (Video about Korrine and her legacy below.)
Well this one was from a little later. But it is very sweet and right in line with the theme of babies and love and relationships.
Just a good sad singing song.
This was a no-brainer.
A great distraction song to put on repeat and try to learn. And also, Taylor Swift has to be in here somewhere.
Another no-brainer.
I guess this turned into a support TeamKC conversation too!
Hope you are all having a joyous spring ❤️
