It is amazing how much a dog can change your life. They really go through it all with you. Dakota was the best doggy a family could ask for.

We got her at a shelter in Arizona, where she had been rescued from a reservation after having puppies. She was just lounging on the floor in a room full of doggies that needed homes…wagging her tail at us, jamming herself up against the cage, trying to get some pets.

She made the drive with me and the kitties when we left Arizona, and even snuck a few fries from Jack In the Box on the way. Evee was her bestie, and after Evee passed away in 2020, Dakota made a new bestie, Miss Liesl.

She loved to do some good zoomies and even managed one last zoom in mom and dads yard, a few weeks ago. Dakota was a little love who just always wanted pets and snacks and to sit in your lap (or on your feet). She liked to be in the sun for too long, didn’t like the hose, and enjoyed sprinting through & breaking screen doors. She was also an avid paddleboarder in her younger years and spent lots of time on trails with us in Arizona. In Washington, she spent lots of time roaming 5 acres of field and barking at the horses.

She loved our kiddos so much and even put up with the cats.

June is a rough month in our home, and unfortunately this June is even more difficult. Picking up her memory items a few days ago was just not on my to-do list for this month.

Pets should get eulogies too. Ten years on Earth is a long time, especially with putting up with all of us emotionally complicated humans. They are such a big part of our lives and should be remembered too ❤️

So here is a picture of our little pup, the day we adopted her. She is definitely one of the best decisions we have ever made.
